Fiat on-ramps enable anyone to purchase crypto on Relay using traditional (fiat) currencies like USD, EUR, or GBP.
Why Are There Two Steps?
Relay integrates with MoonPay to facilitate fiat-to-crypto transactions. However, since MoonPay only supports direct purchases for a subset of cryptocurrencies, the process typically involves two steps:
1. Fiat to Supported Crypto: Your fiat currency is first converted into a cryptocurrency that Relay can process. Supported cryptocurrencies include USDC (Base), USDC (Polygon), USDC (Ethereum), or ETH (Ethereum), depending on your region.
2. Conversion to Desired Crypto: Relay then swaps the received crypto into your chosen cryptocurrency.
This two-step approach ensures that users can purchase any supported cryptocurrency, even if direct fiat conversion isn’t available. After purchasing the supported crypto, Relay automatically converts it to your desired cryptocurrency. This usually happens instantly, but network congestion may cause minor delays.
